Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced.

& the Rosebud Journalism Awards

Good journalism is not “content.” And it’s not merely information.  Good journalism is the intelligent voice of free people.  And it is indispensable to sustaining our democratic society and our personal freedoms.

It’s important today to frequently recognize, reward and record the better works of American reporting and journalism, wherever they are published.

Rosebud is a non-profit monthly awards program, intended to keep up with the relentless pace of the digital age.

The Rosebud Awards were founded in 2017 by a former newspaper publisher, supported by an administrative staff. Rosebud Awards Program reports to a board of directors.

Rosebud Award Winners: Standards & Baseline Criteria

Rosebud Journalism Awards recognizes high-quality journalism across the professional spectrum – news features, profiles, opinion-editorials. We seek to assemble a diverse collection of works that reflect the traditions of good journalism.

“High quality” of course is defined by the essential elements of the craft:

1) Professional detachment and independent reporting.

2) Judicious and relevant use of sources, particularly fully attributed sources.

3) Clear and well organized prose.

4) Work that is impactful and timely. “Journalism that makes a difference.”

5) Capacity for relevance and context – work that explains why a subject is important, and important now.

6) Rosebud award winners fit the profile of “Satisfying One Constituency: The General Public, The Common Reader, The Free Citizen.”
